Selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s “Transport and Traffic Technology Development Promotion System.

The research and development proposal by Future Quest Inc. (CEO: Tomoki Takimoto) and National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Oshima College (Principal: Masao Furusho) has been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s “Transport and Traffic Technology Development Promotion System.” We are a maritime startup advancing business development with the vision of “Empowering Maritime Mobility from Your Desktop.” Through this project, we aim to jointly promote the development of VDES communication technology for reducing the burden on seafarers and improving the efficiency of vessel operations, in collaboration with Oshima College, to solve policy challenges in the field of transport and traffic.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has established the Transport and Traffic Technology Development Promotion System as a competitive funding program to support innovative technologies that contribute to realizing a safe, secure, and comfortable transport society and reducing environmental impact. Every fiscal year, a public call for research topics contributing to the resolution of policy issues in the transport and traffic sector is conducted, and outstanding research topics among those proposed are commissioned for research and development.

This time, the public call was carried out from July 14 to August 21 of the fifth year of Reiwa, under the theme of “Technology Research and Development Leading to New Value Creation in the Transport and Traffic Sector through Digitalization and Smartification for Workstyle Reform and Productivity Improvement.” Evaluations were made by an external expert committee and reviews were based on administrative needs.
